Weekend :)

I hope everyone had a splendid weekend. :) lol.

This weekend was ALFREDO's BIRTHDAY! ! ! lol. He is now the official B I G 2 - 4! lol. My sister already has declared that he's super old. Which is really true.

I had gotten him a cookie cake I thought it was cute...He thought it was cute. But I think he just thought it was cute because I thought it was cute. So maybe its only cute if its for a girl. lol. Kat said I shoulda made cup cakes.....but eh.

Saturday we had a little get together. Beer pong challenge woot woot. :) Pictures will be posted later. Their all on Alfredo's camera and those take forever to load.

Anywhoo, their was mad thunder this morning at 6:00. It was all kinda cool but it did make the drive to work a bit tougher. The sky looked soooooo pretty tho :) Here's some pictures that maybe shouldn't have been taken while driving but were anyways. :)

Prettiness :)
I want it to be rainy season already! I love the rain!! ew, which some how reminds me that I have two test tonight. -gag- Bio and Psych! I think the psych one will be okay but the Bio one has me worried. :( IDK wat to do. Kat said she'll take it for me. lmao.

That's cheating, I know, I would never do it but that WOULD be cool :)

Wish me luck!

Wrong Person

Wrong person.

Have you ever wrote a text to someone on accident?? haha. So on Tuesday I believe me and Kat were myspacin'. Duh. lol. She left me a comment saying she texted me.(We knw people read our pages, so were safe :P) Than she was OMG I just sent YOUR text to someone else. This text was kinda personal and to top it off, she had sent it to the person she was talking about. lmao.

Of course I made fun of her all night. . .

Than guess what fate did...........

Last night I was texting three people at once. No big deal, but they were all replying super fast. I was talking to Kat about my run on Tuesday and other juicy stuff and I ended up sending it to a different person I was texting at the time. lol.

I had to explain what had happened ... their was no way of covering it up with all the info I put in it. lol Luckily it wasnt to anyone I wrote about in the text nor did they know anyone I was talking about in the text so I was safe. :)

THAN, lol. Mayra was texting me and randomly she put "what are you doing Mi amor?" I was suspicious that that text wasnt to me because I had just finished telling her I was on my way home from school. lmao. So I asked and she did send it to the wrong person. Whore. lol.

Texting is dangerous.

Marriage

Back in the day, at my age, my parents were already married and had me! Ew. lol. Im twenty. If I had a kid by now I would be dead. lol. No, I know I would be different, a lot different, but I couldn't imagine already having a family! I give it to them, they probably did put a lot of work in to do so and I thank them because no matter how hard times were they never showed it. Its the things you find out later in life that make you thankful.

Anywhoo...All I know is I dont plan to get married ANYTIME soon. I plan to be engaged for a bit. Have a nice wedding and than travel a bit && than have some rugrats. haha. Sometimes I think I just want to get married for the wedding. lol I want a dress and all that good stuff already but im just not ready for the commitment part of it. lol.

Thats just me though. Who knows. Maybe it will change. I'll find someone and bam be married in Vegas with twins. hahah knock on wood!!!!! I hope that wont happen.

I see my friends and wonder how they do it. How they will survive without their parents income when they solely survive on it now. Some dont have a choice and move out, which I totally understand. But theirs the others who are getting married already. I couldn't afford to get married. I need my mom and dad. lol. Rent is high and foreclosure is even higher, than you have to think about food, rent, utilities, car payment, insurance...blah blah and my pay check is good but not good enough to be affording all of that right now.
Than school just gets pushed behind and soon you're stuck.

I guess some people dont think about the future but rely on love. Sometimes love isn't enough though. Sometimes love can only get you so far...than what? Live your life pay check to pay check knowing you could have done better(job wise).

Like I said in many post before..Its WAY easier said than done. Hey, im in my own dilemma in my life. You can say anything you want, but actions do speak louder than words. :)

Emoness is done.
Happy Friday!

Gender Roles

For my sociology class we wrote on the topic of toys and their influence on gender roles...
I thought it was pretty interesting to see the effects of toys on our society.

Here's my discussion side to get a little more information. :) I'd like to hear what you think about the toys in our society. Email me or comment. I always enjoy reading what you have to say.

Hippoleetoe @ gmail . com

As you walk into Toys R Us you are overwhelmed with toys of all shapes, colors and sizes. It’s quit an eyeful, you may even get a tingle of joy and reminiscence. As you begin to go down each aisle you begin to notice a separation of colors. On one side you see Pinks, purples and silver shimmers all over the place. The aisle is equipped with Barbie, Tutu’s, Plastic High heels and much, much more. You quickly learn by all the inhabitants that this must be the little girl section. Theirs nail sets and hairpieces and even make up kits. Appearance appears to be important to the young consumer.

After the pretty princess aisle colors begin to get bolder in the aisles to come. Browns, blue's, greens all dark colors come out to play. Theirs Racecars, monster trucks and even Spiderman! Pink is nowhere in sight. Theirs no make up kits or beanie babies. In this section its all about the action figures and Tonka trucks. This must be where the little boys shop.

According to what society would base gender roles on otherwise known as Gender Role Ideology, which is beliefs about the proper role relationship between women and men in any given society (pg 47), a young boy would never be caught in the girls section. While walking through the store I notice a young boy carrying a wand. It was silver with stones. He was swishing it around saying "abra cadabra". To him it was a wizard’s sword. His older brothers approach him and begin to poke fun at him. They taunt, "Look he has a girly wand. Are you a princess now?" The young boy begins to cry and quickly throws the wand down and runs away. This shows how Social learning (pg 48) can take place. Although this isn’t shown by his father it is still seen threw his brothers, other prominent roles in his life, by putting the little boy to shame. The older boys portrayed his toy as "girly". This also shows how the boy’s family had a great impact on his life. Siblings play an important part in teaching the gender roles. (pg 50) the young boy could have kept the wand and ignore the brothers, but he didn't. He threw it down as if it was going to hurt him.

This occurrence will have an effect on the boy into adulthood. He may become that dad in which the book describes under social learning (pg 48) who scolds his son for playing dress up as a young age just like he was by his older brothers for playing with a wand. This situation as well as many more messages through television, religion, peers, education and economy will influence his identity. He will learn through gender stereotyping that boys are rugged, cool, calm, collective while the women in his life are emotional and sometimes crazy. This can be shown to him in programs such as Sex in the City (pg 51).

The same goes for young women. Gender roles are forced upon children whether forcefully or not. The girl learns that appearance should be kept up at all times through the plastic heels and make up kits. The boys learn that cars and action figures are the macho aspect of men and Barbie’s are forbidden. Even though our society is changing to where girls can play with Nascars and a man could carry a man purse, theirs still that dominate role where a boy toy is for boys and a girls toy is for girls and anyone who breaks that socialization will be taunted. It is now up to each generation as to whether or not they will change these roles and teach their children differently about the role of each gender.

Whorein'

To whore or not to whore.

That's always the question this time of year. Halloween is vastly approaching and the countdown is on to find the perfect costume! What to be? I was talking to Mayra earlier and she said she didn't know what she wanted to be.

I suggest like the good old Mean Girl movie to throw on a pair of ears. lol. It seems that that's what the costumes are made out of anyway.

I was thinking maybe a bee, haha or ...IDK see they all look the same. its just the "theme" that's different. lol

Last year I was a cop. haha. A pretty darn cute one too. lmao

This year me and Alfredo are thinking OUTSIDE the box. I told like two people what we might do. I was sooo about to write it too but than I thought of all the jockers. If we decide not to do it...than ill tell you. IF we do decide to do it than you have to wait for PICTURES!!!! woot woot.

lol

What are you going to be?

True Love

In my Sociology class we talked about true love and what it is, if it exist.

We have call heard of tyler and renee ziegel if we've been following the news the past couple of years. (picture below)

Tyler and Renee were High school sweet hearts. Tyler went to war, a suicide bomber ambushed is group and he was horribly injured. He lived but his face was torn apart and tons of plastic surgery needed to be done. He also lost his are up to is elbow and all but two fingers on his other arm. Renee stood by his side the whole time and eventually married him.

Happy ending right? True love. Renee a small town girl making a decision to stay with a man she cant even recognize anymore. We all hope we would make the same decision as she did. Perhaps many of us live through her. Seeing them together makes us feel safe and know that maybe just maybe mankind isn't just based on looks.

But Ty and Renee didn't last. They divorced less than a year later. Was it because the way he looks? Maybe the pressure was so much to get married that she just did it to please people. Aren't we known to do that? Do something just to make someone else happy?

She insist it was mutual, they fell out of love. His best friend says she fell out love.

Who knows?

It makes me question the old saying "love conquers all" is it truly possible? Statistics say it doesn't. Look at the divorce rate.

All I know is that I'm happy right now. I should learn to live each day as is. Take in all I can and not push something that's not meant to happen, just yet anyways.

My advice to you is to be happy. Listen to others && love with your heart and your head.

But than again actions do speak louder than words.

Emo status

Have you ever felt stuck? Like you don't know what to do about something. Well in a way you know what would be good but you cant handle the outcome? Loneliness, perhaps. Even though you shouldn't feel that way, you know its inevitable. knowing you would have to start over again. Experience something different and learning about it. Maybe not. Maybe you wouldn't experience what you're leaving ever again.

What makes leaving the "experience" harder is that sometimes its the best experience EVER!! Those days you never want to end. But those days its the worst. You wish things were different and those are the days you want to leave it.

Maybe what you leave is the best you could do, but sometimes you think you deserve better. But who is to know. What happens if you see that "experience" out somewhere. What would you do?

Maybe walking away from that experience will bring old things back. Things maybe you shouldn't have left in the first place.

I know it doesn't make sense, but it does to me. lol. I needed to let it out.

Lame with a Birthday Twist

People are effin Lame!!!

Im
driving to work. Left my house late. Stuck and traffic. Driving along...listening to the radio. Every station is doing some kind of remembrance of 9 1m which I think is really nice. KGGI did the Mariah Song, Power did the P. diddy song. It was nice to know people didn't forget.

Anyways...I was driving towards the 55 on the 91 merger, i peer to my right and what do i see?!?!?!?! A HUGE sign that says in patriotic colors, ironic enough, "9 11 was a lie!!" How idiotic is that, Not only was I mad because of how stupid and ignorant some people can be but that stupid sign caused a greater back up on a already crowded freeway!!!!!! Granite, I still made it to work on time, but still. To top it off their were more signs reading "9 11 was an inside job" on the 55.

Im
not one to force beliefs on anyone, but come on. This is a time we should be standing together, not tearing our nation apart. Please don't start writing me and telling me to watch the movies that came out that 9/11 was really planned, because guess what! I watched it already. Believe me I had my doubts just like all of you. The movie has quit a good argument but isn't that what its suppose to have? Its suppose to find a way to convince you. If it didn't nit pick at every single thing than it wouldn't have a convincing argument would it? The movie only shows one side of an argument that could just as easily be turned around to prove the attacks were real.

I'm
open to any discussion. Opinions are welcomed.

Lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY YANITZA!! You're growing up and become even more beautiful everyday. I admire your courage and love for the world. Live it up. :) You were your sisters BEST gift ever!

&& of course
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANELLE! It a state of mourning for those lost in September 11th we still remember you and celebrate you on this day. I know you're looking down on us. I love you and miss you everyday. :)

In remembrance to Nadja Janelle Alvarez and those lost on September 11th. You're always in our hearts.

Sleep

:: Sleep Deprived ::

Im exhausted out of my mind. lol. I think this makes me super cranky and whinny and mean. I hate people when im tired. haha I remember waking up this morning and say

"I rather be dead right now than have to wake up"

haha. Which was a total lie but at the time sleep was the best thing. I dont wake up earlier than the average Joe. Anywhere between 5:20 to 5:40. Yes I know. 20 minute different rights. lol. If I accidentally hit the turn off button instead of the snooze its 5:20, if I hit the right button, the snooze one, I get up at 5:40. Weird. I know.

Sleep, in Ludacris's words, is my Lover & Friend, hahaha.

Life has been absolutely craziness! lol.

On a lighter note, the new office is great! BIG and NEW. lol.
Lots of different personalities now. Plus a new city that I get to explore. No more Del Taco right next door. lol
